OOTD and small but beautiful haul.

Very plain and very simple and very comfortable.

Dress and Belt - Primark. Pumps - Keds < Have a look at their site, I'm a bit in love with it. Necklace - Dorothy Perkins.
Primark owl body
Owl body Primark £6.
Velvet leggings
I spotted these velvet leggings from across the shop and instantly fell in love. They are age 14 from the kids section and I'm a size 16 and 5"7 but I'm also an idiot who decided to try and force them on anyway. AMAZING they fit...tightly, but they fit. They are super strechy..They even have a tiny label to write my name in!
I tend to have a look in the mens section and now I might have to add the kids section to my list!
Do you shop is the kids or mens?Do you like my haul?

Primark Tangle Teezer dupe

I’ve never owned a real Tangle teezer but I’ve heard so many good things about them I’ve always been intrigued.  On a few occasions when I’ve gone to boots and had a look at them only to decide against it because they aren’t cheap. Then I spotted this beauty in Primark and for £1.50 thought I’d give it ago.
Tangle teezer dupe
Obliviously never having tried a Tangle Teezer I can’t really compare them but they look almost identical and it does do a good job of untangling my hair! Not bad for £1.50 eh?

I’d be interested to know if they are just as good has anyone tried both?

You'll find us chasing the sun

Whilst snoozing in the garden last week I received a tweet from the lovely Gemma of Fatfrocks saying that she had won two tickets to see McFly and The Wanted in Blackpool but was unable to go so would I like them! Yes – best tweet ever. Then Rosie of AroseLikeThis who happens to be a huge fan of McFly and boy bands in general tweeted saying she would love to go so I invited her up to Blackpool for a day on boy band goodness.

I met Rosie at the station and we went for some food then joined the longest queue ever in the rain next to the sea. I felt like such a grown up wearing a woolly hat, scarf, and waterproof in the queue amongst teenage girls wearing next to nothing! Whilst in the queue a seagull manages to not only poo on me but Rosie as well but being the prepared grown up I seem to have evolved in to I had tissues and all was okay, then as we walked into the arena the sun came out! Amazing.

I didn’t realise how much of a boy band fan I am until I found myself screaming, jumping and throwing my hands in the air! Rosie impressed me with her extensive boy band knowledge and her ability to shout at the precise moment the rest of the crowd quietens down. We had so much fun dancing around, it was a brilliant day and by the time I got home I had no voice and ached all over. I now have huge crushes on Danny from Mcfly, Siva from The Wanted, and Rosie.

Huge thank you to Gemma and Rosie.

OOTD: Crop top 2

Who would have thought that I would be wearing my 2nd crop top! A year ago I would have laughed at the notion. I wore this outfit for my mum’s birthday tea party which we had at lunch time with her friends.

Hat - Ebay. Cropped shirt - Primark. Skirt - Primark.
I didn't take many pictures becasue I was so ill i'm still only just getting over the awful cold type virus, it's been horrible!
I'm wearing hats pretty much every day at the moment becasue I'm fed up with my hair, it's growing but only very slowly, my undercut is now a mess and my roots are coming through. UGH. I've got alot of work to do over the summer , I've got to write my creative portfolio for my MA, make a zine for a pop up shop,  and plan a work shop that I'm running. I also have some super exciting things coming up to. I've got my 23rd birthday, Toms birthday, Plus North and the beautiful Hazel coming to stay!
What are you looking forward to?

Colour changing nail polish

I was sent some colour changing nail varnish from bornprettystore.com to review and wow, it’s the weirdest nail varnish ever!
When it arrived it looked amazing messy and a little bit like a regular nail varnish when it’s gone all old and separated! It’s applied quite nicely and two coats give perfect coverage, it is closer to a matte polish than anything else but not totally matte. On cold hands (which mine are) it’s lilac but on warm hands its blue!
DSCN2043

Like all them best nail varnishes it looks so much better in person than on camera but I found the best way to show you this effect was to run my nails under warm water.

AMAZING YES?

I loved watching my nails change colour when I had a hot drink or clenched a fist. I can’t wait to wear this when summer actually arrives and my hands might be something other than stone cold!So yeah I love it and I think it’s worth the $7 price tag however I do have some negatives, it chips so badly! After 48 hours of wear it was pretty badly chipped and I had to touch it up yet it was quite hard to remove with nail varnish remover! (not as hard as glitter polish but harder than a usual polish.)
It is also available in a few other colour combinations and I’ve got my eyes on these amazing neon colours! They also have an Ebay store HERE
Edit: I just bought the Neon green, I couldnt help it!

Everyone likes a personal post

I believe that every once and a while it’s nice to get to know the person behind the blog. I’m very nosey and love such posts so I assumed the some of my readers might like them to.

I’ve referred to my boyfriend as my other half and my fella but I thought I’d take a post to introduce you to the man. He’s called Tom we have been a couple for well over 4 years now and we have been friends for much longer.

He’s kind and funny and is a decent cook, all great qualities in a man. He introduced me to vintage shopping and before I met him I’d never eaten mushrooms or had a Lush bath!  He puts up with my moods, erratic at best. He’s doesn’t complain too much when I drag him around the shops for hours on end and he’s grown to accept that I have the inability to choose food when eating out without a 20 minute debate or some serious planning ahead, ( yes I am a fussy eater.)

4937_194911810275_1347274_n

He's honest and romantic. He took me to Sissi I took him to his first festival; I’ve spent the happiest times of my life with him. He makes up songs about me all the time, they are mostly mean but they are very funny. He fake’s interest in makeup and no matter what a swatch in boots he says “ How’s the pigmentation?” and last week stood in front of the MUA stand in Superdrug he said “ Is this MOOOA any good then?”
225213_10150589323055276_660495275_18527164_8202493_n
He loves x-box, football. He likes watching Dr Who but he doesn’t mind that I’d rather watch TOWIE. He likes going on day trips to strange places. He once kidnapped me and took me to a hat museum! On our first date I got my hand stuck in a cup. He always phones me to say good morning and goodnight. We constantly take the piss out of each othe rbut really we love eachother very much.

So thats Tom, he's a good'un.

strawberry sponge curlers

I’d seen these a few times on various blogs but I only decided to give them a go when they popped up on Ebay a few weeks ago. I was hunting for cheap Ebay jewellery at the time. I ordered 2 packs from this seller and they arrived 2 weeks later which is pretty decent to say they came all the way from China and over that huge jubilee weekend.
strawberry sponge curlers
The instructions aren’t very useful but its pretty easy to work out what to do and there are tons of youtube video to help you if you get stuck. I put them in dry hair just before bed. They were so much comfier to sleep in than the normal bendy rollers that I use, and even though they didn’t feel very secure none of them fell out.
In the morning I removed them and my hair was lovely and wave with soft curls at the ends.
Overall I’m impressed. I’m always trying to use less heat on my hair so this is a great way of getting body and movement without using tongs. The strawberries did drop during the night so the curls started about a third of the way down my hair rather than from the root but I like this look.
strawberry sponge curlers
The necklace I'm wearing is also from the same seller- I've seen similar ones in Topshop for £10+

I brushed he curls to soften them in to waves and they lasted all day...and the next until I washed my hair.
Have you tried these or got any ebay bargains recently?
PS. My mum had a great birthday and my cold seems to be getting better! Also I'm now on instagram : danielleblackpool

Wahanda spa treats /Happy birthday mum!

As you may or may not know it’s my mum’s birthday tomorrow. I’m poorly and sat with a box or tissues, but I’ve had a shower and applied a bit of gradual tan, I’m determined to be well ( or at least look it ) for her birthday meal!
I really wanted to get my mum something a bit special as it’s a big birthday so I got her some diamond earrings, as well as some birthday socks (family tradition) a scarf and a few other bits. I’m really looking forward to giving her them and I’ll OOTD my outfit if I end up looking anything close to human.
ANYWAY...the really point of this post is to share with you a website that I used to get my mum her final birthday treat.
I was contacted by a lovely PR man on behalf of Wahanda.com. They specialise in Spa days, hair, beauty, massage, nails, etc and offer deals for all over the UK. A bit like Groupon but all about beauty! Like I said they have deals for all over the UK and you just type in your postcode to look at the deals in your area. I found great savings at hairdressers in Manchester which would have come in handy when I was living there as a student!
I was offered some credit to use on the site and I decided to spend it on something my mum could use because she totally deserves it. I knew exactly what my mum would love as well! My mum has always loved massage and talked about getting one herself but she never treats herself so I thought this would be a perfect chance to treat her.
DSCN2063
The site was super easy to use and I had the choice of loads of amazing spas in and around my area. I started by searching for massage in Manchester then narrowed the search down and found that they had some offers for Blackpool! I was happy to see that my favourite ever spa had an offer for a massage day with a saving of over 50%. I booked the offer on Monday and the voucher arrived at my door beautifully presented on the Wednesday in time to be poped in her card for tomorrow as an extra treat!
I’ll let you know if she likes it and I think I’ll go with her on the day so I might end up blogging about that to!
You should check it out if you’re in the market for a massage of beauty treatment because it has some huge savings on offer, I’m hoping that a few more Blackpool offers pop up soon because I could really do with getting something done to my hair!
also HAPPY 50TH MUM!

Kitten Nail Art

I got the summer job at Lush! I really really wanted it so I was so happy when I got the phone call! I start training next week. However at the moment I have a huge vile cold. Everything hurts and i'm always chilly and trying really hard to get better in time for  my mums birthday which is on friday.
IMAG0686
I almost didn’t post this up because it’s so messy but the cute factor outweighed my inability to do a decent French manicure. I got the transfers from eBay, £1.99 for 20
To make up for the messy nails here is a picture of my very handsome cat, he's called Mr Grey. We adopted him a few years ago and he lives in our garage. He's very scared of people because he wasn't treated well as a kitten and he will only let my mum and I hold him and stroke him.

Isn't he beautiful?!

OOTD: suited up

This is probably one of my favourite types of outfits. As much as I love dresses I will always favour jeans and there’s something about dressing like this that makes me feel a bit “ballsy” – maybe it’s the man style shirt!

What are your 'go to' outfits? I'm still waiting to hear about the job. Today has been all sorts of stressful. One thing happened and I cried pretty much all afternoon. Nothing huge at all I just think I needed a good cry. I honestly feel loads better now! My boyfriend was lovely though and over all we had a fun few days together he met me with a goodie bag ful of presents for doing so well at uni! Isn't he lovely?!

OOTD: Bowler hat

bowler hat
cat nail art kitten
black creepers outfit
Jacket/ top - River Island
Leggings - Primark
Hat - Ebay
Jewellery- charity shops/River Island
bowler hat dipdye
Flase lashes - Kiss

This is what I wore to perform a 10 min poetry slot at an event last week. I was so nervous before I went on. 10 min feels so much longer when you are on a stage on your own but it went really well and about half way through I really started to enjoy it. I got some great feedback off some real life “proper” poets, which was great.

Tomorrow I have a trial shift at Lush, I'm excited. I'm hoping that my product knowledge will pay off, I've tried a large percentage of the Lush products so I'm thinking that it may come in handy, I'm also pretty sure that I know the layout of the shop so with a bit of luck the job ight be mine. Fingers crossed.

Topshop Makeup Brushes

DSCN1617

I was bought a set of TopShop make up brushes for Christmas last year and after nearly 6 months of use I thought I’d share my experience with you.
The brushes are soft and densely packed. The two larger blush brushes have shed a little especially after cleaning but this has not been a problem with any of the other brushes.

DSCN1616

I’ve used the foundation brush for contouring because I prefer to apply foundation with a stippling brush. The lip brush is the least used brush in the collection but it is handy to have and I like that it comes in a retractable case.

The eyeshadow brush is fluffy and on the larger side and it’s great for applying colour to the whole lid. My favourite brush of the collection has to be the angled eye brush. I use this brush with Benefit Browzings and the thin line is great for precise application.

DSCN1618

Overall I love the brushes and would repurchase the angled and fluffy eye brushes. They seem to be lasting really well and at around £4 each they are much cheaper than Mac/Sigma.
Do you use make up brushes? Which do you swear by?
Also huge thank you to everyone who wished my luck in my interview - I have a trial shift on Saturday. Plus I got some assignment marks back yesterday and I got a merit and 3 distinctions, I never thought i'd ever manage a distinction in anything so I'm pretty happy at the moment!

OOTD: Sun hat and Creepers

Last week I was part of a live Creative exhibition at my uni which is based at Media City Salford next to the BBC. It was a great day and I got to meet lots of hugely talented people which was really cool.  My boyfriend met me half way through the day to get some lunch which was nice. It was a super long day I had to be out of the house by 9 and I didnt get home till gone 11!

OOTD: Crop Top

[ Back when it was sunny] Last week I went out for my beautiful friend Jo’s birthday, I drank cherry wine she drank....many many things and we had a great night.
I wore a crop top, yes A CROP TOP. I would have never ever thought in a million years that I would wear a crop top out of the house because of how self conscious I would feel but like I’ve said before blogging has had the “fuck it, I’ll wear what I want” on me.

Hope you are all having a lovely long weekend.
