Birthday breakfastDuring the day my family and friends came around to wish me happy birthday and despite the rain in the morning the sun came out and I was able to spend the afternoon at the park with Tom and some friends. In the evening we got dolled up and when to a local Greek restaurant for a gorgeous Meze. I love my friends to bits and it’s not often we do nice meals out so it was great to catch up especially with one of my friends who came all the way from Manchester for the meal and then had to set off home again!
Now a confession, I had 2 small shots of Port whilst getting ready and two glasses of wine with the meal. I drunk much less than most people there because I know I wanted to be in top form the following day, however I woke up with a huge disgusting hangover at 6 am. I was weak and dizzy, vomiting and shivery. It was as if I’d drunk 2 bottles of wine not 2 glasses. I used to be able to drink a lot more than that , and I did on a regular basis but recently I’m a mess. The same thing happened at Plus North, 3 cocktails and I couldn’t move! Seriously anyone have any idea what has happened to me please let me know?
ANYWAY, the plan was to get up and head in to Manchester for a day of shopping then a stay at the Hilton and I was not going to let a hangover get in my way! I took some anti sickness pills and sipped lucozade and after the 80 min journey I felt almost human again.
Now the hotel was out of this world, there was nothing at all I could fault at all. It was pure excellence. We arrived 4 hours before check in yet they let us in early, the welcomed us with warm cookies and water and didn’t even comment on the fact that I looked deathly!
Because I had felt so awful I’d let Tom pack for me which meant I’d arrived in Manchester with no clothes other than 1 skimpy dress and the only make up he had packed was a selection of eye shadows and mascara plus concealer! After check in and a quick revamp of my face and hair we went shopping! At this point I must say that Tom is a total hero, he had to deal with me hungover in the morning, faint in Primark and 7.5 hours of shopping and he hardly complained at all- he’s a keeper.
I bought lots of things most of which will pop up in OOTD posts soon. I thought I’d do that rather than a giant haul because then you can see how I wear the items!
After a day of shopping we went back to the room to chill out before we got glammed up in our new clothes. We were going to go for cocktails but because of my performance the night before we decided that drinking may not be the best plan and we went to see Ted at the cinema. I loved it. Afterwards we went back to the hotel and went to a swish cocktail bar to drink fruit juice and eat posh egg sandwiches at 12pm, the evening concluded with us messing around on the photo booth on the computer in our hotel room!
The day after I ended up going shopping again – the day before I’d tried on two pairs of jeans in Topshop and bought one, I went back for the 2nd pair! Then we went to the football museum, which Tom loved, after that we had to say goodbye and I had to get the train home. I slept the whole journey.
See I told you I had an amazing time. Huge thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday your wishes where very much appreciated.

That's the jacket I should have bought, gutted as it's sold out now... anyway...

DeleteWas good to bump into you Dani, shouldve got a picture but I had two tired boys wanting to find a pub and could hardly stop and talk haha.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know, I'm exactly the same with alcohol, hence the reason I don't drink - it's just not worth it for me! I can have three drinks and be deathly for three days! If you find a cure, let me know!
Can't wait to see your haul! I literally think I only spent about 45 seconds in every single shop I went in. Shopping with lads is bad, yours is deffo a keeper!
