Swirl Nail Art with Water

DSCN0555
I love the look of this but I don’t often do it because it's messy and takes quiet a long time so last week I thought I’d do it and take some photos to share with you.

I have been doing this for a few years and I’ve blogged about it before but it's so pretty and deserves another post.

Before you start make sure you have everything ready. Water, cotton buds, tissue, nail varnish, remover etc etc.

Using a white base coat makes all the colours pop, however my white polish had come to an end so I used Models Own Utopia.

Cover the skin around your nail to limit the mess. I used electrical tape.
Now drip the polish in to the water. When the polish hits the waper it should spred. Then put the next colour inside so you create rings.

Next take a cocktail stick/pin/dotting tool and drag it through the polish. You can be neat and create waves and swirls or you can be messy like me and just go for it.

Now carefully stick your nail through the surface of the polish so that it is under the water. Wait. If you pull your nail out straightaway you will drag extra colour up and mess up your design. With your nail still in the water use your other hand and a cotton wool but to gather some of the excess polish from the surface of the water. When you have cleared the excess polish away you can remove your nail and marvel at the design.
When you have finished apply a top coat.

What do you think? Have you tried it? I think it would work really well for a ring finger manicure.

My giveaway is still open enter to win a YSL lipstick, lashes and a glitter polish. Click the link in the side bar.

  7. I do this sometimes but I've got no cocktail sticks or a bowl I'm willing to sacrifice at the moment. It always looks so pretty! I never cover my fingers up because sticky tape doesn't sit right on the contours of the finger, I just clean up. It doesn't take long cause it's a thin film of polish.
