Lush virgin.

Hello my name is Danielle and I’m a Lush virgin.

Ok I was.. Until today.
I’ve always steered clear of anything bright or fragranced of anything liquid that I’m expected to sit in that isn’t intended for babies.

This is why..

At the age of about 8 I used some glittery bath stuff from Boots that was totally intended for kids (glitter babes – if you’re wondering) having only ever using the likes of baby bath before this age I had no idea what it might do to me but instead of emerging clean and sparkly I was bright read and itchy plus burning outside and in.
So from then on I’ve avoided anything like that at all, knowing my skin is sensitive I didn’t want to risk it. I mean Fabreeze brings me out in a rash and biological washing powder makes my eyes swell and every time I take my make up off ( even with simple) my skin eye lids rash up.
However my OH loves Lush, he loves baths in general but add a bath bomb to the mix and he loves it. He sent me out to brave the sales on Tuesday and get him some sale products and after being seduced by the Elf jelly I bought a few things for myself.
DSCN0118
So just a few hours ago I ran a bath crossed my fingers that my skin is toughening up and popped in a GOLDEN WONDER bath bomb. Feeling risky I even slapped on a facemask too.

I jumped in and watched the colour of the water change from gold/green/blue then a little bit of pink but the best bit was when a load of stars appeared! Maybe if I’d have read up on the bath bomb first I would have expected this – I thought my bath was going to give me a vajazzel!

Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed my bath and so far no adverse reactions so maybe my skin has finally grown up! Still a shower girl at heart I could see myself "going wild" and risking a bath bomb again very soon.

Do you love lush? What do you like? Bath or shower?

Presents and sales

I've been so busy over the past week, opening presents and shopping so i'm not complaining. I've got a beautiful new Camera that I've been playing around with but so far I've not had time to sit down and blog.
This is a quick photo dump from my phone.

Christmas day, presents, food and family. Some of you may know I've been super worried about my Grandma but she was well and had a perfect Christmas!
I'll be back to my normal blogging routine soon and I have lots of amazing sale buys to share with you all! Some people on twitter seem to be a little disappointed in the sales this year but i think I've been lucky and found some amazing buys.
How have you found the sales? What do you think of my bow tie?

Ps. I'm attending the Manchester blogger meet this Friday, are you?

Pretty Fingers.

I’ve just got my “Christmas nails” done. As much as I love nail art simple acrylics will always hold a place in my heart and I really wanted long nails for Christmas. I had these done by a trainee and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
IMAG0161
Over the past few days I've been tidying my room (or else santa won't come!) and "organising" my nail art collection. I've been sorting the colours and painting false nails as swatches slightly because i'm sad and enjoy this and also because I can see which colours are in which box.
IMAG0096
Pretty yeah?
This will most likely be the last time I blog before Christmas. Tomorrow I’m delivering presents and the day after I’m having a “Christmas day “ with my OH we plan to exchange presents in the morning have lunch out and spend the rest of the day cuddled up watching films. Christmas Eve I’m work which I wanted to do because I love soaking up the Christmas spirit.

The big day will be a family affair and I hope to be getting a new camera because my old one is dead and photos on my phone or borrowing my mum’s camera is really getting to be a pain.
Then shopping on boxing day!
What are your plans?

OOTD: Ladies night

I little while ago my beautiful friend suggested that we go for a meal somewhere that isn’t a pub or a takeaway, somewhere classy and we decided to do it for Christmas. All four of us got dolled up in dresses and skirts , not a band t-shirt or pair of jeans in sight and spent the night sipping (downing) port, sherry, cocktails, gin whiskey and wine then had a lovely Meal in a proper restaurant! Get us.
[I say classy but to be fair the topics of convosation where anything but.!]

Nothings Changed/Christmas tag

Yesterday I was sat beside the Christmas tree on the floor in my front room leaning against the sofa. I was wearing a checked shirt and skinny jeans, festive socks and my hair loose.  I was sat browsing old photos on my lap top when I came across a file of photos I had scanned it sometime last year and I found the following photo.
9521_262190530275_660495275_8802102_997604_n
Okay my hair is a different colour and the sofa/carpet/curtains have changed but I was sat in the same position wearing (pretty much) the same outfit.
It made me smile.

I was ( my mother informs me) 6 on photo.
This got me thinking.... have you changed? Could you recreate an outfit post from years and years ago?
I did a little searching online and I found THIS article in which comedians have recreated childhood photos Check it out its pretty funny and if you find and childhood outfits that you would totally rock now do letme know!

Jess from lovely jubbly did a Christmas tag and I'm doing it too, click on her blog to check hers out and feel free to do it on your blog :] let me know if you do.

OOTD:Charity Shop Chic #5

These are the latest items I’ve picked up.
IMAG0150
IMAG0149
I Cardi is real wool and super warm, it says its a size 22 in the label but it doesn't seem that big at all, its one of my favourite charity shop buys. (The dress is Topshop.)
I’m getting quite a collection of knitwear and silk scarf’s now!
IMAG0140IMAG0139IMAG0137
Last week there was a rather pretty typewriter in my charity shop. It came it a box that was a little broken but the typewriter its self was lovely. I would have liked to be able to take it home but as things stand I just don’t have the space – I do love having a nosey at all the weird and wonderful things that get donated!I’ve been crossing my fingers for a bowler hat! (No I don’t know why I feel the urge to own one either)

What do you look out for when you are charity shop-shopping? Do you have any tips of have you done a post about it? Link me please?

Ps. I cant wait to get a new camera as you can tell my current camera is only working when it wants to and even then its not doing very well!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

IMAG0128IMAG0129IMAG0130
Last week I was at my OH’s house and we went to visit a garden centre purely to look at the pretty Christmas displays. Yesterday I finished my Christmas shopping and put up the tree and I feeling super festive. I’m trying to ignore the fact that I have several assignments due in the second week of January.
If you nee a little festive treat I think you should check out Me&yu's range of Christmas tops or the Punky Pins christmas collection

Are you feeling festive yet? Where do you stand on the 'tinsel debet' (I like it in moderation my OH hates its) ?

All I want for christmas is..

The beautiful Anita Riot tagged me in her Christmas list post so here is mine.

Dear farther Christmas,
Thank you for being so king to me last year, this year I would like to think I have been a good girl and I would like to see this effort rewarded on the big day......
Seriously for Christmas I would love a stress free healthy Christmas with the people I love however  I can’t deny I do have a more materialistic Christmas list I’ve been compiling religiously for the past few weeks.
CHRISTMASLIST
1.Lashes are always on my Christmas list because its always good to have a back up pair. I like to stock up at Christmas birthdays or when they are on special offer. I reuse my lashes a shameful amount of times I have been known to make one pair last months. ( this is most likely a dirty habit i should not admit.)
2. Chanel illusion d'ombre is a product i've wanted to try for ages but being I really don't want to shell out for it however if it was a gift it would certainly put a smile on my face.
3. Nikon coolpix L120 I want and need a new camera, my current one is broken to the extent that i have to manually open the lenses with a hair grip. This is the one I'm in love with.
4.Christmas isn't Christmas without chocolate and this is a white chocolate orange with multi coloured sparkles- what's not to love.
5.Bridesmaids. Favourite film of the year.
6. Money for the sales. I'm assuming everyone need to indulge in a little retail therapy after the big day.
7.Books. I really don't need any more books so I should really take this one off but I love books. My to read pile is nearly as tall as me and I just cant read them fast enough.
8. Socks and tights. My perfect stocking fillers.

What do you want for Christmas? Or what do you really not want?

Thank you Primark

Okay so this isn’t the most thrilling thing I have ever bought but it’s very useful. I bought this jewellery tidy from Primark for a bargain £3, its comes in cream too and its double-sided.

I love being able to see all my jewellery and because I can see it I’ve been wearing it all instead of just the few items at the top of the jewellery box.

If you are particularly tidy you could always hang in it inside your wardrobe out of the way but I like to display it on the wall!

IMAG0104
IMAG0105
Of course you could always use it to store make up or even photos and other bits that hold special memories. If I had the space i really would buy a few more.
What do you think?

Also I’m already getting a little excited for the sales last year I got a load of gift sets from boots for half price just after Christmas so I’m looking through the Christmas catalogue as I type this looking for things I plan to get for half price.
TIP: If you’re at all interested in tanning ( I do In the summer) then the January sales are great for stocking up on half price fake tan. Last year I bought 3 St Tropaz sets at half price which lasted me through the summer.

Snowman Nail Art and OPI Bargain

As promised I had a go at Snowman nail art. First I tried doing little snowman on each nail but it was hard to get the detail in so I came up with this design.
IMAG0006
I’ve also been getting the glitter out to do these ‘frosty’ looking nails. I’ve found if your patient and wait for each layer to dry but build it up pretty thick it is easy to peel off – yeah I know this it like super bad for my nails but taking off glitter nail varnish is a giant ball ache.
IMAG0004IMAG0109
Up until today I’d never tried OPI, mainly because I’m tight and I have a ‘I don’t pay over £5 for a nail varnish rule’ which I’ve only broken once for Chanel.

BUT the lovely Amy from Paperbacks-and-postcards informed me that TK Maxx have sets of 3 for £12.99!
I was so tempted but since TKMaxx is a train or bus ride away I wasn’t going to indulge until my OH bought me a scratch card (A happy Christmas one) on impulse and I won £20 – it totally made my day plus my winnings covered both our travel and my nail varnish!
IMAG0115
I bought: Play The Peonies/ Be A Dahlia Wont You/I Lily Love You
They had a range of about 12 different colours but I guess this will change from store to store.

OOTD: My first Collar

Most people seem to love Peter Pan Collars The trend never made its way in to my wardrobe (or so I thought) cute on others odd on me I stayed away deeming them too girly for myself. (i'm still on the look out for a cheap studded collar/1) Then whist looking through my wardrobe I found my beautiful River Island Dress. My OH bought me last Christmas and I wore to death other the Christmas period only for my mum to wash it and shrink it. The dress that was once and acceptable length came out of the wash a bum skimming mini and I hadn’t worn it since.
100_8435
100_8436
But now I’ve dug it back out and fallen in love with it once more, it’s a sparkly gold which doesn’t show up on my dying camera and it had bows down the back. It’s totally girly but for some reason the brash gold and over the top buttons make it something I love. I’m now wearing it as a top with skinny jeans and a jumper for a lazy day of blogging and doing uni work. I may ever pair it with some leggings if I’m feeling daring over the festive season.

Jumper:Primark Ring:Topshop

What do you think? Do you like it layered with the jumper? How else could I wear the dress?
